SPRING 2015_3
Dear Whom It May Concern,
- CP 1022 Research Studio II (RS: Wonder: Cosmos & Our Place)
Make sure to be in a class that you are interested in, with an instructor who you like, especially for core practices.
Of course I though I'd be done with reading after I graduate high school - I was so wrong, I thought I'd be reading something about art and what I want only - and these research classes in freshman year teach you how, what, and where to find those information you need.
Do some research about background and focus of the instructor (besides checking ratemyprofessor.com or reading the school's official description) because you definitely want to be with someone who you can gain benefit from either in artistic career or academic attitude, and who shares similar interests. It's good to expand your horizon, but if you are planning to pursue your study in AIADO department for historical architecture preservation, taking research class focused in fashion - you will need way more time and effort to figure out where and how to research for what you need.
JSTOR will be your best friend and teacher, but please be sure to utilize Flaxman Library, Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection, Roger Brown Study Collection, Fashion Resource Center, Video Data Bank and so much more - at least visit those places once throughout your SAIC life, even if it may not be directly related to your focus of study.
